Tanner Kirkendall

About Tanner

I'm a senior software engineer with more than a decade of experience building production software — the kind that runs real businesses every day, not demos. Along the way I've also led engineering work: designing system architecture, guiding teams, and making the build-vs-buy calls that keep projects from going sideways.

I live in Northwest Arkansas, and this practice exists because I kept seeing the same thing here: growing businesses stuck between off-the-shelf software that doesn't fit and enterprise consultancies that don't make sense at their size. There's a better middle — senior-level engineering, scoped honestly, from someone local.

When I'm not building for clients, I'm usually writing about software on the blog or tinkering with tools of my own.

How I work

You work with the engineer

No account managers, no handoffs to a junior team. The person you talk to on the discovery call is the person who designs and writes your software.

Plain language, honest scope

You'll always know what's being built, why, and what it costs. If something is a bad idea — including hiring me — I'll say so.

Built to be maintained

I write software your next hire can pick up: boring where it should be boring, documented, and deployed on infrastructure you own.

Let's talk about your project

Tell me what you're trying to build or fix. I'll reply within one business day with honest next steps — no pressure, no jargon.
